In the meantime, a few things to think about or check;

  • Do you have a domain name yet?
    If not, write down a few alternatives (based around your business name or your business activity) in order of preference.
    If you have, do you know the UserID and password that lets you manage the domain?
  • Do you have a business email address?
    If not, do you want one? Generally recommended. What would it be ie. something@your-domain-name.
    If yes, is it related to your website / domain name? It should be.
  • What is the primary purpose of your website?
    For example, to get people to phone you, or fill in a website form, or subscribe to a newsletter, or buy something online....
    Your website should have a primary objective that will be pushed & promoted on every page, and be very obvious. Secondary objectives are good too, but won't be given as much prominence.
  • Have you got some 'content' (text & images) ready?
    Your website should reflect your business personality. It should speak to visitors using terms and language they are comfortable with.
    Your Home Page will give an overview, and other pages go into detail (if appropriate). Invest in a wordsmith to really get your message across effectively.
    Mugshots, action photos, premises photos, these make your business real and relatable. Invest in a photo-shoot if you don't already have professional images - it really is worth it, and will pay for itself.
